WIP Caps // “COOLINTANG” (2025)

I believe: one of the most underrated factors of a good skate film is when it is really made out of trust and genuine connection: create something good & fun, an understanding between skater and filmer, and evidence of their passion for skateboarding.

Mari Torres (@maridontjuana)’ latest film for WIP Caps, “COOLINTANG,” is the outcome of that belief. It features Leif Hauge (@weast__coast), a recognized pro skater with various film parts (such as Sucker, Japan, Welcome Part for Cardinal Skateshop, and more) and a Footwear Designer for New Balance Numeric; and Ciro Borrero (@c66orr), an artist from Rizal and also a rad skater with notable skate parts on various films released this year (such as What The Sigma, Mendiola, and more). A skate film with smooth flavoring, made from a 2-day skate session in Makati and Laguna, with only a simple plan: To skate and to explore.

Besides the fine lines being done by the skaters, one of the elements of the film is the music used: Kulintang by John Lesaca, which was also creatively applied to the film’s title.

"The name Coolintang...it's just random... I just thought it was funny play on the words... along with other titles, that was the one that stood out." Mari explained, when asked about the reason behind the title.
