Silog Skate Awards 2025: For the Skaters, By the Skaters

Silog Skate Awards 2025: For the Skaters, By the Skaters

Skateboarding has always been about community. The late nights filming, the DIY spots, the crews holding it down in their own corners of the city, none of it exists without the people who show up, push forward, and keep rolling no matter what.

That spirit is exactly what Silog Skate Awards 2025 is about.

This year, the awards double down on what matters most: the voices of the local skate community. From January 3 to January 17, skaters, filmmakers, homies, and supporters across the country cast their votes, not for hype, not for clout, but for the people who truly moved the culture forward in 2025.

And on January 31, we’re coming together to celebrate it properly at Kalawakan Space Time, right in the heart of Quezon City.

Powered by the Community

The Silog Skate Awards isn’t about gatekeeping or industry approval. It’s about recognition from the ground up. Every vote represents a moment, a clip, a video part, a session, or a presence that meant something to someone out there.

By voting, the community didn’t just pick winners; they told the story of the year:

  • Who showed real consistency
  • Who pushed street skating forward
  • Who documented the scene with honesty and heart
  • Who inspired the next generation to pick up a board

This is skateboarding reflected back to itself.

On the Line and the Ceremony

The community weighed in on the awards that actually mean something:

  • Filipino Skater of the Year – honors a skater who has shown extraordinary skill, dedication, influence, and contribution to the Philippine skate community within the year. This award recognizes a skater who not only excels in their discipline but also uplifts others, pushes Filipino skate culture forward, and represents the spirit of passion, creativity, and resilience that defines skating in the Philippines.
  • Skate Film of the Year honors a skate video, or skate film released in 2025, that demonstrates creativity, storytelling, technical excellence, and impact on the skate community. This award recognizes projects that capture the spirit of skating, showcase the talent of Filipino skaters, and inspire audiences both locally and internationally.
  • 8 Street Godz are the skaters who define the now and next of Philippine street skateboarding. They are innovators, culture shapers, and icons-in-the-making—pushing boundaries and inspiring a new generation through creativity, grit, and community building.

These aren’t trophies for the shelf. They’re statements. Proof of work put in, battles fought, and respect earned the hard way. The Silog Skate Awards have always been a snapshot of growth. From different regions, crews, and styles, the nominees reflect the scene’s remarkable breadth and vitality. It’s proof that skateboarding here doesn’t live in just one city or one sound; it thrives everywhere people are willing to put in the work.

January 31 isn’t just about handing out trophies. It’s about showing up for each other, celebrating progress, and reminding everyone why we started skating in the first place.

Where We Go From Here

This isn’t a finish line. It’s a checkpoint.

What we’re seeing right now is a scene that’s learning how to stand on its own. More skaters filming, more crews building, more stories being told without waiting for permission. The Silog Skate Awards are proof that local skateboarding doesn’t need validation from the outside. It already has its own voice, its own standards, and its own future.

The next wave is already out there, skating rougher spots, filming harder clips, and pushing the culture further than before. If this year showed us anything, it’s that Philippine skateboarding is only getting louder, sharper, and more fearless.

January 31 is a celebration, but it’s also a reminder. Keep skating. Keep filming. Keep showing up. The scene grows every time someone refuses to stop rolling.

See you at Kalawakan Space Time.
